Wine Tastings

The Ronda area has developed a phenomenal wine industry in only the last 25 years. Once an ocean of vines, it was wiped out in the 19th century by Phylloxera along with the rest of Europe’s vines. Now, inspired individuals are planting vines and building bodegas which are already showing how Ronda’s climate and altitude can produce outstanding quality. Hotel Bandolero is delighted to introduce a Wine Tasting package, providing a taste of these characterful Ronda wines as well as other Spanish wines, a visit to the Ronda bodegas (Ronda’s vineyards), and delicious food.

You can enjoy your wine tasting as a weekend package or at any other time that is suitable to your needs; the package at Hotel Bandolero includes a wine degustation, food and wine matching, a visit to a local bodega sampling of local tapas and a special session on Spain’s world famous Jamon Iberico and cured free-range ham of (almost!) divine quality.

Our sommelier is Paula MacLean, a Scot living in Spain and fluent in Castilian. Paula is a member of the Andalusian Sommelier Association and works part time at the Mijas Wine Museum on the Costa del Sol. She has much knowledge of the wines in Spain and globally as well; she is also an expert in Whisky and liquor in general. She has a wonderful wine presentation which is quite informative and interesting.

Our package also includes a presentation & tasting with wine by a multi-time Spanish national and regional champion of Spanish ham cutting, Leocadio Corbacho of La Casa de Jamón in Ronda & Marbella.

Our two night package comprises:
- Two nights half board basis in Hotel Bandolero in Juzcar;
- Tasting of Ronda wines by sommelier Paula MacLean;
- Tour and tasting at a top Ronda Bodega, including return transport to the bodega and Ronda itself;
- A tapas lunch in charming Ronda;
- Free time to explore the fascinating and historic old town;
- Learn about the art of Spanish ham curing and cutting from a Ronda-based Spanish national champion.
- Marriage of wines of Andalucia with classic dishes prepared by our Cordon Bleu Chef, Ivan Sastre.
Not included: flights, airport transfers, beverages at tapas lunch, more than two drinks at dinner.
